Aqua Park
Tel: 4490-5872

Located 16 km out of town along Salwa Road, the first phase of the Aqua Park had its soft opening at the end of 2010 to mixed reviews. While it is not the Wild Wadi of Dubai, residents can get a cooling thrill in the chilled water rides: a 200 m lazy river; wave pool with waves reaching up to 1.5 m; water slides, the highest reaching 20 m; an activity pool with five slides and waterfalls; lagoon with juice bar; jacuzzis and more. It also features a dry land area, with paint balling, soap football pitches and a BMX park. A resort is being built next to the park. When fully complete the park will cover 100,000 sq metres and the resort 200,000 sq metres. A strict, although slightly vague, dress code is in place. No zippers, buttons or other metal pieces on clothing. Women should cover shoulders and legs to the knee; one piece swimsuits are not permitted. Most expatriate women wear long biking shorts. Men must wear long shorts. Women are likely to feel less on display on Tuesdays as it is Ladies Day, boys up to age 8 allowed. Entry is QR100, under 2s are free. Open daily 10 am-10 pm.
